Male escort: Women want home-delivered sex

An escort who has been providing sexual escorts services to women in New Zealand for 14 years is not worried about competition from Pam Corkery's planned brothel for females.

The 42-year-old sex worker, who calls himself Adagio, said women would not visit a brothel. If they wanted sex, they'd want it to be discreet and "home-delivered".

"It's a different scenario for women. A man would feel masculine and strong when he visits a brothel, whereas a woman would rather be in an environment that they felt comfortable with, such as their home or hotel, rather than going to a strange place," Adagio said.

That's the reason he offers only "out calls escorts", for which he charges $150 an hour or $600 a night.

Adagio said those who sought his services were not just "cougars", but women aged from their early 20s to late 50s. He gets up to six bookings a week.

Ms Corkery, a former politician and high-profile broadcaster, wants to start a brothel - complete with a bar and spa - at which male sex workers can provide services to women clients.

It would start as a reality TV project, but would continue to operate after filming for the proposed series.

Neither Ms Corkery nor her business partner, television producer Rebekah Freeman Hay, would elaborate on the project yesterday.

A flu-ridden Ms Corkery said she "just can't talk" about her plans.

The brothel plan has received mixed responses from Herald readers - one calling it "absolutely disgusting"; another saying, "about time".

Real estate agent Kim Loo was ready to help get the venture off the ground, trying to contact Ms Corkery yesterday about a property close to Remuera, which would make an ideal spot for the brothel.
