Berlusconi in sex scandal
Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi is once again in the spotlight over his inappropriate relationships with women. This time, according to Reuters, the 72-year-old is defending himself against allegations that female escorts were paid to attend parties at his home.
Italy's leading mainstream newspaper, Corriere della Sera, claims that magistrates investigating a local businessman in southern Italy on suspicion of corruption discovered that he had paid female escorts to accompany him at dinner parties at Berlusconi's house.
According to The Sun, one of the alleged escorts, 38-year-old Maria Teresa De Nicola, claims that after partying with 15 other girls she "spent some hours with two girls from Rome and Berlusconi". The next morning, she claimed, the prime minister gave her jewellery.
In response to the new claims, Berlusconi said: "Once more, newspapers are full of trash and falsehoods. I am not going to let myself be conditioned by these aggressions..."
